OEW Investment Advisors · Austin, Texas
The next era of investing is simplicity.
OEW is an investment firm built on four decades of leading some of the largest institutional funds in the United States. We allocate capital by the economic environment, simply, transparently and without leverage.
Who we are
The discipline of the largest institutions, for a small group of investors.
OEW was founded by Britt Harris, the only investor to have served as chief investment officer of top-five funds in endowments, public pensions, corporate plans and hedge funds. The firm brings the discipline of those institutions to a small group of families and institutions who value a clear process over complexity.
How we invest
Markets have a fair value for each environment, not one.
We identify the current environment using growth and inflation, hold the portfolio that has historically suited it, and apply two overlays that reduce exposure to speculative bubbles and sustained bear markets. The result is a portfolio that is simple, fully liquid and unlevered.
The environment
Every period since 1947 classified by growth and inflation into one of nine environments. The strategy holds the portfolio suited to the current one.
Two overlays
The Bubble Model reduces exposure to speculative excess. A bear market trigger lowers equity exposure during sustained declines.
What we hold
U.S. equities, U.S. Treasuries and cash through low-cost index instruments. Nothing private, nothing illiquid, no leverage.
Share of all months since October 1957, the model's monthly record, spent in each environment. Most of history sits in the middle. The extremes are where the risk lives.

Our founder
"Simplicity is the final frontier of knowledge, not complexity."
